A reddish sphere was reported to strike Height 611, a hill inside the mining town of Dalnegorsk, leaving a burned ledge scattered with metallic beads and mesh fragments. Soviet scientists who analyzed the material published anomalous findings, and the case is often called the Soviet Roswell.
